Idaho’s WWAMI Medical Education Program is a partnership between the University of Washington School of Medicine and the states of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Since 1972, WWAMI has successfully educated many of Idaho’s physicians. The Idaho WWAMI Program provides medical education and training to students, residents, and practicing physicians throughout the vast state of Idaho. Idaho WWAMI students complete their Foundations Phase, formerly referred to as “first year”, of medical training at the University of Idaho’s Moscow campus. WWAMI allows medical students to train in Idaho, with their first two years on the Palouse and Clearwater Valley, increasing their familiarity with rural Idaho, as well as the health care needs of their region and state.

The Idaho WWAMI Program provides medical education and training to students, residents, and practicing physicians throughout the vast state of Idaho. Idaho WWAMI students complete their Foundations Phase, formerly referred to as “first year”, of medical training at the University of Idaho’s Moscow campus.

Students that complete this four-year medical education program receive their doctor of medicine degree (M.D.) from the UWSOM. The WWAMI Region Family Medicine Residency Network is a group of family medicine residency programs related to each other by geography and university affiliation.
